Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) has launched the international roadshow leading to Ecomondo 2025, scheduled for 4–7 November at the Rimini Expo Centre, reaffirming the event’s position as the reference hub for the green, blue and circular economy in Europe and the Mediterranean.
With stops in Egypt, Serbia and Poland, the initiative anticipates key themes of the ecological transition, presenting technologies, policy insights and business opportunities. The program is designed to strengthen dialogue between Italian companies and international markets, ahead of the November edition that is expected to attract thousands of global stakeholders.
A first step in Cairo
The opening stop took place on 8 July in Cairo, in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Egypt, the Italian Embassy and the Italian Trade Agency. The event highlighted the water cycle, bioenergy in agriculture, waste management and energy efficiency. Egypt’s National Climate Strategy 2050 and its target of reaching 42% renewable energy by 2035 framed the discussions, underscoring the country’s commitment to sustainable development.
The Cairo stop also provided concrete networking opportunities. The 2024 edition had already seen significant participation from Egypt, with 40 top buyers from industries, utilities, municipalities and ESCOs, resulting in 401 B2B meetings organized during Ecomondo and at KEY – The Energy Transition Expo. This year, public and private entities once again gathered to explore cooperation on projects central to the energy and ecological transition in the region.
Serbia and Poland to host next stages
The roadshow continues on 9 September in Belgrade, with the support of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and regional advisor MZ Consulting. The agenda will focus on waste management, solar energy and water, three strategic areas where Serbia is intensifying investments. Local incentives and EU pre-accession programs are accelerating the region’s sustainability transition, creating a favorable environment for partnerships with Italian companies specialized in renewable energy and environmental services.
Two days later, on 11 September, the third stop will take place in Warsaw with the Green Grill format, organized in collaboration with Confindustria Poland. The event, conceived as an informal and low-impact networking occasion, will address biogas, plastic waste management, water treatment and solar energy. Poland is rapidly modernizing its environmental infrastructure, supported by European funds and national investment plans. Confindustria Poland currently counts 105 member companies, representing 30,000 employees and a combined turnover of €4.6 billion, making it a key partner for expanding Italy–Poland industrial cooperation.
Ecomondo 2025 themes and innovations
The roadshow anticipates the thematic breadth of Ecomondo 2025, which will showcase innovation across seven macro-areas: Waste as Resource, Water Cycle & Blue Economy, Sites & Soil Restoration, Bioenergy & Agriculture, Earth Observation and Environmental Monitoring, Circular and Regenerative Bio-Economy, and the biennial SAL.VE event dedicated to ecological vehicles.
Specialized districts will highlight vertical sectors. The Blue Economy area will focus on safeguarding marine ecosystems, while the Circular Healthy City will present solutions for sustainable and healthy urban models. The Paper District will concentrate on eco-friendly paper design, the Textile District on ethical fashion, and the Trenchless District on innovative No Dig technologies for infrastructure.
The Innovation District will serve as the hub for applied research, with an expanded area for start-ups and scale-ups. A particular emphasis will be placed on Green Jobs & Skills, reflecting the growing demand for specialized competencies in the green economy. Once again, the Lorenzo Cagnoni Award for Green Innovation will recognize cutting-edge technologies with potential to reshape environmental industries.
A platform for policy and research
Ecomondo 2025 will also feature a comprehensive conference program curated by its Technical Scientific Committee. Topics will include regulatory evolution, ecosystem restoration, emerging forms of bioenergy and predictive resource management. Dedicated sessions will analyze the Mattei Plan and the role of green technologies in Africa, reinforcing Ecomondo’s global outlook.
By combining international roadshow events with a forward-looking fair, IEG is positioning Ecomondo not only as a trade show but as a strategic platform for ecological transition, connecting businesses, institutions and research. With less than three months to go before Rimini hosts the new edition, the momentum generated in Cairo, Belgrade and Warsaw confirms Ecomondo’s pivotal role in shaping sustainable economies across borders.
