The European Sustainable Energy Week 2026 will take place from 9 to 11 June, marking the 20th edition of the largest EU event dedicated to renewable energy and efficient energy use. Under the theme “A clean, secure and competitive Energy Union”, the initiative aims to reinforce Europe’s long-term strategy for a resilient energy system capable of ensuring affordability, security and climate neutrality. The hybrid format, hosted in Brussels and online, is expected to attract thousands of participants, confirming EUSEW as a key platform in the European clean-energy governance architecture.

The policy conference will feature more than 60 sessions curated by the clean-energy community. These discussions will explore regulatory frameworks, the evolution of energy markets and the technological pathways enabling the EU to meet its 2030 and 2050 decarbonisation goals. In parallel, the Energy Fair will showcase innovative projects and actors accelerating the green transition, offering a structured platform for networking between institutions, companies and civil society.

Strengthening Participation and Innovation Across the Energy Ecosystem

In preparation for the conference, the European Commission has opened a call for policy-session proposals until 22 January 2026. The goal is to engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders—industry representatives, researchers, NGOs and academic experts—in shaping the agenda with evidence-based contributions and sector-specific insights.

The EUSEW Awards, whose applications remain open until 29 January 2026, will recognise excellence in three categories: Local Energy Action, Women in Energy, and, for the first time, SMEs driving Energy Efficiency. These awards highlight Europe’s commitment to innovation and inclusiveness in the energy transition, reflecting the growing role of local governance, gender equality and small enterprises in delivering measurable climate results.

An online Info Session scheduled for 3 December will provide guidance on milestones, selection criteria and procedures for proposing sessions or submitting award nominations. Participants will gain access to timelines, Q&A materials and a full recording on the EUSEW 2026 information platform, reinforcing transparency and accessibility.

Beyond the central conference, EUSEW 2026 will offer additional opportunities for engagement. Prospective exhibitors will be able to participate in the Energy Fair, while young professionals may apply to become Young Energy Ambassadors. Local Sustainable Energy Days—held across Europe and globally—will further expand outreach, creating a decentralised ecosystem of initiatives aligned with EU climate objectives.
