There is finally some good news for those who have been waiting for a low-cost wallbox for electric cars with the ability to “discharge” the battery and power dwellings. The Austrian company go-e launched Charger PRO, which is also compatible with ISO 15118. The ISO is specific for Vehicle-to-X, making it suitable for both home use, with Vehicle-to-Home, and for the electricity grid, Vehicle-to-Grid. With a launch price of €1,149, Charger PRO by go-e is an extremely competitive and efficient charging station.
Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) concerns the possibility of using a car battery as a storage battery for a dwelling or, in general, a building (in this case, it is known as Vehicle-to-Building, or V2B). Batteries for renewable energy storage installed in dwellings typically have a 5 to 10 kWh capacity, while those in electric vehicles start from around 40 kWh for a small car and can reach up to 100 kWh.
Besides wireless data transmission via WiFi and mobile network (LTE), the go-e Charger PRO CABLE allows data exchange via cable using Ethernet. This ensures intelligent charging and connection to external systems wherever necessary for V2X. In addition, the wallbox can be controlled via a digital input and output, so that the system can be optimally managed. Various open API and OCPP interfaces allow connecting to third-party software such as backend systems, energy management systems, photovoltaic surplus systems or billing systems.
The go-e Charger PRO has an integrated MID-compliant meter to meet the needs of businesses, fleets and company car drivers who recharge the vehicles in dwellings. The wallbox is easy to install and can be controlled via an app or using the Plug&Charge function. The charging power ranges from 1.4 kW to 11/22 kW depending on the number of phases (single-phase, three-phase).
