NextChem, a company that develops and implements sustainable technological solutions for energy transition, will open a new office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). This marks a crucial step in the strategic expansion of the Maire Group, the multinational energy services engineering company to which NextChem belongs.

The announcement came on Tuesday 23 September during an event attended by the Maire Board of Directors and NextChem senior management, as well as Borouge Group CEO Hazeem Al Suwaidi and other representatives of ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), Italian Ambassador to the UAE Lorenzo Fanara and Youssef Al Nowais, MAIRE's industrial partner and shareholder.

Energy innovation in the UAE

Maire has been present in the United Arab Emirates for more than twenty years with its engineering & construction business unit Tecnimont, which has carried out several strategic projects in the Gulf area. In particular, Tecnimont and Nextchem are now involved in ADNOC's Hail and Ghasha onshore project, with the aim of decarbonising the gas processing industry globally.

Maire is also active in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman. Therefore, the opening of NextChem's new headquarters strengthens the group's presence in the region.

To support the green transition, NextChem, which leads MAIRE's Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) business unit, will deliver innovative solutions across three main business lines: nitrogen fertilisers, low-carbon chemicals and fuels, and sustainable materials and the circular economy.

“The opening of NEXTCHEM’s local offices underscores our long-term commitment to the United Arab Emirates and the entire Middle East region,” said Mohammed Nafid, Vice President of Middle East STS. “With over twenty years of engineering experience consolidated through Tecnimont, we are now bringing Nextchem’s technology portfolio to support our customers’ decarbonisation goals.”

Customers today “are looking for partners who can combine solid project implementation experience with innovative, competitive and economically sustainable technological solutions,” concluded Nafid. “Our Abu Dhabi office will allow us to collaborate even more closely with stakeholders, strengthening the region’s global leadership in the energy transition, project after project.”
