Emanuele Profumi

Emanuele Profumi has a PhD in political philosophy and works as a freelance journalist. He collaborates with various Italian and European universities. He has written and published articles for Italian magazines (MicromegaLeftLa Nuova Ecologia) and international publications (Le Monde Diplomatique), as well as working as a foreign correspondent for several Italian newspapers and magazines (in London, Paris, Athens and Mexico City). In Italy, he has already published a trilogy of narrative reports (the Inchieste politiche) on the subject of social and political change: on Chile (Prospero, 2020), on Colombia (Exorma, 2016) and on Brazil (Aracne, 2012). He taught contemporary peace history at the University of Pisa and political science at the University of Tuscia (Viterbo) and has written and published philosophical essays. His latest work is a profound philosophical and political critique of contemporary society that has laid the foundations for the emergence and rise of neo-authoritarian movements (Servitù democratica. Come fermare la spirale autoritaria [Democratic Servitude: How to Stop the Authoritarian Spiral, ndr], Prospero, 2025).
