Founded in 2021 by Hessam Lavi, Philipp von Bieberstein, and Isis T. Baulig, Climatiq is an integrated carbon intelligence solution that allows companies to incorporate greenhouse gas emission metrics in their daily commercial operations and decision-making processes, also by modelling scenarios and future forecasts.
The German company’s suite of products includes the largest open-source dataset of verified emission factors, alongside intelligent API systems that can integrate carbon footprint metrics into any software for real-time emissions monitoring.
The database created by the Berlin-based startup draws from numerous authoritative sources, such as ADEME (the French Agency for the Ecological Transition), the European Environment Agency (EEA), the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) in the US, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The data are publicly accessible and cover all the primary economic sectors, including transportation and energy, as well as specific use cases such as data centres, corporate acquisitions, and supply chains. Through the database, in real-time, greenhouse gas emissions are transformed from an abstract concept into a tangible everyday reality.
Headquartered in Berlin with a globally distributed team, Climatiq has raised 6 million euros in funding to grow and further perfect the database and expand the use of the platform by professionals and businesses. Currently, Climatiq’s services are used by companies such as Cisco, PWC, Siemens, and Stripe. World-renowned scientists, including Mike Berners-Lee, Shelie Miller, and Robert Armstrong, are part of Climatiq’s scientific advisory committee.
