Meight is a startup that originated as a spin-off from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and is based in Évora, Portugal. It offers an intelligent transportation platform designed to optimise logistical operations. Launched in 2021, the platform helps road freight carriers manage operations in an automated and fully digital way throughout Europe. Designed for easy configuration and integration, Meight’s software and associated app support businesses in every phase, from route planning to reporting, enabling a faster, more efficient, and eco-friendly management of road freight.
Processes are streamlined thanks to API standards and artificial intelligence-led automation. Bringing together different data sources, the platform analyses telemetry to predict fuel costs, identify non-compliant drive times, and reduce overall transportation costs. Learning from previous journeys and driving models, Meight uses this data to anticipate errors and is particularly targeted at supporting the 95% of hauliers who have traditionally been at a disadvantage, primarily family-run businesses. The platform's user-friendly interface brings together all phases of the transportation process, from booking and shipping to route planning and real-time monitoring.
The two founders, both motorsports enthusiasts, are Luis Mendes and Antonio Reis, respectively the company's CEO and CTO. They raised 3.4 million euros in an investment round in late 2024. In Mendes's words, this investment "will allow us to expand our presence in Europe and introduce new features to automate and further optimise the entire freight management process for small hauliers and business customers."
