The Editorial Staff of Renewable Matter is joining the Italian national general strike on Monday, September 22, 2025, involving workers in the public and private sectors.
The strike was called to highlight the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the target of a genocide by the state of Israel, and the ongoing seizure of Palestinian territory aimed at annexing the West Bank; the Israeli army's complete blockade of humanitarian aid to the exhausted population, which has already led to numerous cases of starvation, in addition to the tens of thousands of deaths, including children, women, journalists, and healthcare workers; the unwillingness of the European Union and the Italian government to impose sanctions commensurate with the gravity of the situation and to stop all institutional relations and economic, scientific, and political collaboration with the state of Israel.
Furthermore, the Editorial Staff supports the ancillary motivations of the strike:
AGAINST the lack of social policies in Italy, starting with the housing emergency and the lack of plans for the development of public housing; FOR a serious reform of social safety nets; AGAINST the lack of industrial policies capable of addressing the ongoing transitions and overcoming the phase of intense conflict, triggering a process of further deindustrialization and exploitation of the working classes and workers; AGAINST workplace deaths; FOR the protection of workers' health and safety in the workplace.
The news pages will not be updated from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will resume after the strike ends.
